The Southeast Elite traveled to Sioux Falls to take on a pair of teams from HartfordattheSanfordfields. In game one vs. the Havoc, The Elitegotontheboardfirstwhen Macy Haynes and Whitney Wolf walked and scored on a series of wild pitches. They repeated the process in the 4th when Shaleigh Grant was hit by a pitch. Haven Haenfler then pinch ran for Shaleigh, Presley Schonebaum walked andbothscoredonwildpitches. The Elite added 3 more runs and ended up winning by a score of 8-1. Stella Ratzlaff collected the only hit for the Elite. However, they took advantageof9walks.Harper Kracht picked up the victory pitching 5 innings striking out 9 while only walking two. In game two, the Elite faced the Hartford sliders. The Elite struck first when Presleywalkedandscoredon an error on a ground ball hit byHaleyBrandt.Inthethird, Macy Haynes and Whitley Wolfwalkedandweredriven in by a single by Shaleigh Grant. The Elite added 3 more in the top of the 5th when Johanna Namminga, Macy,andWhitleyallwalked and scored on a series of wild pitches making the final score of 9-1. Harper and Shaleigh collected the only two hits for the Elite. The Elite took advantage of 8 walks and 4 errors by the Sliders. The Elite played great defense highlighted by a super catch by Keira Fathke. Emersyn Haenfler picked up the win pitching 4 complete innings, striking outfive,walkingoneandonly giving up 2 hits.

Several athletes competed in multiple events across Sabas DeHaan truly shined this last weekend as surpassed his previous records of 23.12 in the 200M dash and 51.01 in the 400M dash. At state he placed both 2nd 400M dash with a new personal record of 50.66 and 7th in 200M dash at 22.89.

The Lady Pirates got off the mat in the 4th when Rowan Brandt reached on a fielder’s choiceandAbbyGretschmann washitbyapitch.JordynVoigt thendoubled,scoringtworuns. Macy Voigt singled scoring J. Voigt and just like that the Pirates were back in the game. The Pirates added two more in the 6th when Rilyn Thury and Pria Sesler walked, advanced on a wild pitch and with two outs were driven in on a single by Brielle Voigt making the score 8-7. In the bottom of the 6th, the Flyers threatened to score when a runner reached second with one out. However, MacyVoigtstruckthenexttwo batters out. The Lady Pirates flipped the game on its head in the top of the seventh, scoring five runs on five hits to take the lead. Abby Gretschmann got things started with a sharp single to right field. Jordyn Voigt followed with a double so the Pirates had runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Rilyn Thury then doubled, scoring both J. Voigt and Gretschmann giving the Pirates a 9-8 lead. Macy Voigt then singled scoring Thury andPriaSeslerwalked.Brielle Voigt then delivered another huge two out double scoring both M. Voigt and Sesler to take a 12-8 lead. Chester tried to rally in the bottom of the 7th scoring one, but Macy Voigt was able to get the last two hitters to ground out to the pitcher sealing the win for the Pirates. Macy Voigt pitched a complete game allowing 13 hits and nine runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking five. With the win the Pirates advance to the South Dakota State Softball Tournament and will face Alcester-Hudson on Thursday at 10:00 in Aberdeen.
