South Dakota is experiencing a large increase in the number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. The seven-day running average for cases has increased 393% from 80 cases per day Aug. 1 to 394 cases per day Sept. 30, while the average the number of hospitalizations has increased 420% from five to 26 hospitalizations per day.

Read moreThe 2020 Census promotion at the library came to an end on September 30th. The drawing for the I-pad that participants in the Census had a chance to win was held October 2nd at 5:00. Winner of the I-pad is Dan Svatos. Congratulations Dan and we appreciate every one who participated in the 2020 Census. 2.8x2 Numbers at the 2020 Census site shows that Lake Andes moved from 9% of people completing the Census on-line to 35.1%. The state average for South Dakota finished at 96.8%. A few states across the U.S. finished higher, but a few states finished lower as well.

Read moreGreer Unit# 11, American Legion Auxiliary met at 8:00 on September 17 at the post home with eight members present. The meeting was called to order by President Juanita Stone. Chaplain Marge Stone opened with prayer, followed by all reciting the Pledge of allegiance and Auxiliary Preamble. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The treasurers report was given and approved by a motion from Sandi Seiner, motion carried. Bills were presented and a motion to pay bills was made by Jeanette Fuchs, motion carried. Correspondence was read from District President Janice Coleman in regard to the upcoming district meeting on September 27, in Wakonda. Barb Kucera, membership Chairman reported that we have 23 paid members. Our goal is 78 for this year. Dues notices are in the mail. Please send dues to Chairman Barb Kucera. Community service Chairman Marge Stone reported appropriate cards were sent: Sympathy five, Thinking of you six.
