There were big snowflakes falling slowly to the ground Wednesday, January 10th, when the Wagner Rotary Club gathered for its weekly meeting. It could have been described as pretty if we hadn’t just gone through a two-day period of snow and high winds over the weekend. President Becky Brunsing gave what she described as “a small ring a ding” on the Rotary Bell to bring the members to order. We were short of five members due to the weather and other commitments.

All former South Dakotans, either permanent or seasonal residents are invited to attend with their family. The SD Picnic will be held indoors in the Grace Lutheran Church fellowship hall. Parking and fellowship hall entrance is at the rear of the church building. Please bring a main dish or dessert with enough to share, along with plates and eating utensils for yourself. Serving utensils will be provided, along with soft drinks, water, coffee and tea. There will be no alcoholic beverages served at the SD Picnic. Please come and enjoy a fun time with fellow South Dakotans to either meet new friends or to catch up with friends known for a lifetime. Be sure to reach out to any South Dakotans you know who are living in FL in February and let them know about this special time of fun and fellowship. Now, to some that would probably be an unwantedinterruption,butin South Dakota, we will always welcome a crying baby. And that’s a good thing considering the fact that our state has the highest birth rate in the nation – so we have a lot of crying babies around!

Read moreWhen the first article about Hudson Wince was published on October 4th of 2023, he was preparing for his second open heart surgery at just under three months of age. Hudson underwent his second surgery called The Glenn on October 31st. It was a hard moment for the mom of four boys, Talia Wince, to hand over her baby to the surgeon for a second surgery, even harder than the first. Thankfully, the surgery was successful and his recovery was remarkably uneventful. A week after having his second open heart surgery, Hudson was able to leave the hospital.
