Members of the National Guard 153rd Engineering Battalion of Wagner held a 20-year reunion since their deployment to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom II. Organizers of the reunion were David Woods, Todd Link, Jason Kuhlman, and Greg Neilson. When asked what made the four want to organize the reunion event, they said that they will always have a bond with their fellow soldiers that they went over to Iraq with and want to try to keep in touch with everyone as much as possible.

In VDC, Veterans manage a Veteran-specific monthly budget to purchase goods and services to best meet their needs. This includes directly hiring employees, including family members and friends, to provide personal care services.
Read moreThe annual event held this past Sunday, August 18 is in its nineth year and is organized by the 11 members of the Dante Tractor Pullers Association. This year’s event had 85 hooks. As with each yearly event, it does seem to grow with the number of entries as well as spectators. The organizers are always happy to see new faces. The Northeast Nebraska Pullers Association was on hand to run the day’s pulls. When speaking to an organizer, Tyler Koupal, he said that there was a very nice mix of pickups, tractors, and semis on hand so that there was something for everyone to come and watch from the very young to the more seasoned pull enthusiast. The proceeds will go to the Dante/ Avon Pink Ladies as well as the Dante Fire Department.

Read moreThe Avon School District will welcome a new K- 5th grade special education teacher for the 2024-2025 school year, Ashley Cihak. Ashley has been teaching for the past 14 years. Her entire teaching career until this year has been with the Wagner Community School District. Six of her last 14 years were in Elementary Special Education, with the last eight years teaching second grade.
