Evelyn Swanson is the October Student of the Month in grades K-2. She hasn't missed a day of school since we started in August. She comes to school daily with a positive mindset and willingness to learn. I can count on her to give me 100% effort on everything she does. Evelyn demonstrates an attitude of gratitude and is a leader within the classroom and to her peers.

Lake Andes Public Library will receive a $10,000 gift from Carnegie Corporation of New York, the foundation established by Andrew Carnegie. The award is part of Carnegie Libraries 250, a special initiative celebrating the upcoming 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and honoring the roughly 1,280 Carnegie Libraries still serving their communities across the United States.

When I look back on the 2025 season of the Lake Andes Farmers Market, I will be grateful for the vendors who became a part of our Farmers Market family. We are not mighty, but we are committed to maintaining a market in Lake Andes. The market offers a time for socializing, learning about new techniques for gardening or food preservation or sharing a recipe for one of the vegetables or fruits we have for sale. It is also fun to see people of all ages visiting the market.

An estimated 1,446 home cooking fires were reported to U.S. fire departments on Thanksgiving Day in 2023, reflecting a 388 percent increase over the daily average, according to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Christmas Day and Christmas Eve ranked as the second- and third-leading days of the year for home cooking fires.

President Jamie Soukup brought the meeting to order Wednesday, November 12th and proceeded to lead the members in saying the Rotary Grace. Rotarian Rachel Woods announced that our song for the day would be The Battle Hymn of the Republic. The day before our meeting was Veterans Day which made our song even more meaningful.
