MARGARET A. BURFEINDT

Margaret Ann Burfeindt was born to Joseph and Mary “Mamie” (Bouska) Carda on June 10, 1936 in Tabor. She passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Tyndall, having attained the age of 89.

Margaret graduated from Tabor High School in 1954. She was united in marriage later that year to Alvin Burfeindt on August 29, at Zion Lutheran Church in Avon.

They began their lifelong journey together for the following 64 years. Together they made their home on the family farm for two years until drought forced them to seek work in California. After one year, they returned to the family farm north of Avon, where she resided until 2022.

Margaret was an outdoor person who was always involved in every aspect of their farming and cattle operation. She had a personal love for birds and wildlife of all kinds. She also enjoyed baking dozens of hamburger and parkerhouse buns that everyone loved. Always with a smile, she welcomed everyone into her home with open arms.

She is survived by her daughter Sandra (Murlen) Van Duysen; grandsons, Travis and Tyler (Ellie); great grandchildren: Taylor, Dodge, Remington, Oakleigh, Stetson, Sutton, and Brixton; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Alvin in 2018, infant son and daughter, her parents, along with her five siblings and their spouses and her late husband’s sister and spouse.

Private family services are being held at Zion Lutheran Church in Avon with burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Avon. Peters Funeral Home in Avon is in charge of arrangements.
