Funeral Mass for Delbert Beeson, 91, of Dante was held Friday, February 22 at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Dante. Burial was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Dante, with Military Honors. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Delbert Beeson was born April 8, 1927 to Raymond and Grace (Sell) Beeson on a farm near Greenwood. He died Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner at the age of 91 years, 10 months and eight days.

Delbert attended Rouse #78 country school completing the 8th grade. As a young man he helped on the family farm until heenteredtheArmy attheage of 18 on September 28, 1945 through February 10, 1947. Upon returning home he did various jobs which included carpentry. One of those jobs led him to Perkins where he met a beautiful woman Arlene Arnson, working in the Perkins Store, who accepted his invitation for a date. They were married on December 27, 1948 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Dante beginning their nearly 57 year journey of life together. Delbert farmed all his life. His hobbies included collecting artifacts, guns, rocks, making canes and doing presentations at area schools on history and nature.

They lost their daughter Connie on June 22, 2000 at the age of 37. He lost his wife, the love of his life, Arlene on July 3, 2005. He entered the Wagner Good Samaritan Society on June 25, 2014.

Delbert was a member of the Assumption Parish in Dante where he taught CCD and served on various committees, Knights of Columbus, the VFW #7319 and American Legion Post #11. He also served on the Charles Mix County Conservation Board.

Delbert will long be remembered by his grandchildren and great grandchildren for the time he lovingly spent with them on crazy adventures. His true treasures in life were his grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.

He is survived by his sons Gary (Charlene), Terry (Belinda), Mike (Norma) all of Dante and son-in-law Barry Biggins of Winner; 12 grandchildren: Jodi (Jeff) Payer, Traci Beeson, Travis Beeson, Josh Beeson, Jeff (Lindsay) Beeson, Mark (Amy) Beeson, Steven (Jody) Beeson, Rhonda (Jeff Kuhlman), Ross (Jen) Beeson, Ryan (Brittany) Beeson, Desarae Biggins (fiancé Jason Lambert), and Brandon Biggins (Cari Fischer); 28 great grandchildren with one arriving soon and two great-great granddaughters; siblings: Thomas Beeson, Clara (Dick) Kafka, Larry (Sylvia) Beeson, Francis (JoAnn) Beeson, all of Wagner, and Irene (Jim) Mullen of Carrolton, TX; and sisters-in-law Bev Beeson of Wagner and Donna Beeson of Squim, WA.

Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law Gertrude and Martin Arnson; daughter Connie Biggins; infant great grandchild Immaculee Kuhlman; infant brother Ronald Beeson; sister Ann Schmuck; brothers: Raymond Jr. (Buster), Richard and Robert (Bob); and sisters-in-law Alice Beeson and Darlene Beeson.
