YES.Three months before a planned fireworks celebration commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary, Mount Rushmore is under an extreme drought designation.The national memorial is at a level 5 of 6 tiers ranging from a drought condition of “normal” to “exceptional,” as of an April 7 report.

A group of Avon students traveled to Vermillion last week to compete in a math competition, and they represented their school very well.

A grass fire burned approximately 265 acres south of Lake Andes on Thursday, affecting land owned by the Yankton Sioux Tribe, the Soukup family and the Krcil family.According to reports, the fire is believed to have started from a controlled burn conducted a few days earlier.
