The Wagner Rotary club held a weekly meeting on Wednesday, August 20th. President Jamie Soukup called the meeting to order with a rap on the Rotary bell. Soukup then lead a prayer for our meal and mission.

Senior Companions of Eastern South Dakota celebrated 37 years of service.
August 10 marked the seventh annual “Best of the West” county showcase held in Wessington Springs. Thirty-three counties were invited to take part in the event.
Bennett Petrik got to ride in a firetruck driven by his uncle, firefighter Brady Petrik, making his first day of school unforgettable. The ride was a prize from the Avon Volunteer Fire Department's raffle during their Annual Appreciation Night and the Summer Reading Program finale.
The American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary will be hosting a flag retirement ceremony on Friday, August 22 at the Avon High School Football Field at 6:20 p.m.

Avon Science teacher Paul Kuhlman gets ready for upcoming school year in his new science lab thanks to grant money when he received Teacher of the Year Award and $25,000 Monsanto Grant.
With the beginning of the 2025-26 school year the library is happy to invite children to the library after school. Reminders that if children do not attend school because of illness the library policy states they cannot visit the library until going back to school.
