A group of Avon students traveled to Vermillion last week to compete in a math competition, and they represented their school very well.

The Bon Homme County 4-H Jr. Leaders and volunteers hosted their annual lock-in at the 4-H Center on Friday, April 10th. This year’s event attracted 51 youth from all over the county. Plus, an additional ten Jr. Leaders members.

The Wagner/Avon/Lake Andes Varsity Raiders struggled to keep pace with Gregory County Club Baseball 18U, falling 15-5 on Sunday, April 19 in Wagner.

The Wagner Community School Hall of Fame 2026 Induction ceremony was held Saturday, April 18. Inductees recognized for their achievements and leadership included Devon (Brecke) Swanson, Jon Doom, Brad Lhotak, Tom Studelska, Wayne Scherr, and the 1992 and 1994 state championship wrestling teams.

Five years ago a simple unity dream was just a dream to talk about. It could have been just a talking point, but those who chose to know more decided to actaully work to make a idea a real posibility.

There was a small group for the April 15th Rotary meeting. There were no guests as it was supposed to be a traditional steak meeting. A “steak meeting” has always been on the agenda at the end of every quarter.

A grass fire burned approximately 265 acres south of Lake Andes on Thursday, affecting land owned by the Yankton Sioux Tribe, the Soukup family and the Krcil family.According to reports, the fire is believed to have started from a controlled burn conducted a few days earlier.

Greer Unit #11 American Legion Auxiliary held their monthly meeting on April 16 at the Post Home with 14 members present and 1 member by zoom.President Alyssa Mathis called the meeting to order. Chaplain Margie Stone read the opening prayer.

NO.Black Elk Peak in the Black Hills is not the highest point between the Rocky Mountains and the Alps in Europe.Black Elk Peak, which was officially named Harney Peak until 2016, is 7,231 feet above sea level. It is the highest point east of the Rockies in the United States.

Eleven Wagner 5th-8th Grade Choir Students competed at Vocal Solo/Ensemble Contest in Armour on Friday, April 10th. We had nine events which featured five Solos, three Duets, and one Quartet singing to receive a rating.
