Emma joined our school this past year entering into her Junior year. She is a highly motivated student athlete that strives for the best in all she does. She is very unselfish and wants what's best for the team, not her individual accomplishments. She is leader both on and off the court while maintaining a 3.98 GPA in the classroom. She is an active participant in basketball, volleyball, track, Health Occupation Students of America president (HOSA), chorus, National Honors Society, Student Council and a member of the Legion Auxiliary. Emma helped lead the Raiders to state appearances in both Volleyball and Basketball this past year where both teams placed 4th in Class A.
Emma stepped into a key role on our volleyball team this year. As an outside hitter who hadn't played much defense in the past she did an outstanding job of learning our defense and was one of our top defensive players. Emma has now accumulated 881 past 3 seasons Emma has totaled 624 kills (343 this last season) and lead our offense. Emma was chosen for LMVC first team honors and also earned 2nd team All-State.
Here are her accomplishments in Basketball. She reached the milestone of 1,000 career points and now has accumulated 1,262 points in her high school career. She also has 998 rebounds in her career. She is a 4 year starter and a repeat 1st team all-conference member in both the SESD and LMVC conference for the past 4 seasons dating back to her 8th grade year. Her scoring stats may not pop out at you, but she averaged 13.9 ppg, 9.7 rebounds ppg, 3.2 apg and 1.3 spg on a very talented team that had 3 players score in double figures and another three score over 7 points. She shot 53% from the field and 66% percent from the free throw line. We use a stat program where players get graded each game and aplayer to have an average game they should have a plus 7 or 8. Emma's average score on efficiency per game was 20.3. Again, this shows she's not just about the scoring but doing all the other aspects of the game to help her be the best player and teammate she can be. She was also selected to the Class A all-state team both last year and this year. Last year she was 3rd team and this year she was 2nd team.
Emma is a great leader, role model and student-athlete at Wagner. She carries herself with a humble, blue collar work ethic day in and day out. With these stats and characteristics, we feel that Emma would be honored to be an Elite 8 Athlete.
