The Wagner community held its annual Easter Egg hunt.

Patty Frei was the newest member of the Wagner Rotary Club.

Jerry Henke won the Paul Harris Fellow award.

Kathleen Juffer and Jacob Kucera were featured in the WCS senior spotlights.

The Wagner High School presented their spring music program “Time Travel”.

20 Years Ago – 2004

A son was born to Corey Reiser and Haley Kocer March 19.

Dana Kaylor and Chris Tuschen announce the birth of their daughter, Ella Marie April 22.

On April 18, the Wagner FFA Chapter traveled to Bookings for State spring Career Development Events contest. Lisa Walters, Travis Krcil and Josh Weichman received their FFA State Degree.

USDA Rural Development presented Native American Set Aside Funds in the amount of $700,000 to the Yankton Sioux Tribe to repair or replace lift station equipment at four separate sites.

Mike Waters of the Wagner Locker brought home top awards from the North Dakota Meat Processors Association 2004 Product Show held in Valley City, ND.

Jamie Soukup and Alison Jaeger were announced as “Red Carpet Affair” Prom King and Queen.

30 Years Ago – 1994

Wagner Community Club presented Citizen of the Year plaques to Esther Carda and Rick Thaler, 1994 Wagner Citizens of the year.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies were held at Wagner Vision Clinic.

Chris Fechner was student teaching the third grade at the Yankton School District.

45 Years Ago – 1979

Wagner BPW presented Rita Kocer with the Women of the Year Award.

John Packard of Marty, caught a 25 pound 8 ounces Northern that measured 45 ½ inches long.

Captain Richard Mayer graduated from U.S. Air Force pilot training at Laughlin AFB and was awarded Silver Wings.

Brothers Dwight ad Les Gunnare were members of the Black Hills State College Basketball team.

60 Years Ago – 1964

Leo Tucek of Geddes was hired as foreman for the Land Management Section of the Game, Fish and Parks Dept.

Mrs. Anna Whethman became the first resident of the Wagner Good Samaritan Home.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Duane Vitek and a son to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ramsdell.

Peggy Morgan and Kaye Herbert were chosen to attend Girls State, alternatives were Kathryn Nash and Katherine Schroeder.

Boys State delegates were Dennis Anderson and John Jenson with Rudy Dobesh and Gary Peters as alternatives.

70 Years Ago- 1954

Thomas Skog was valedictorian and Harry Lee Crisman was salutatorian of the 1954 graduating class.

Newly elected council men were O.R. Eeeson, Vernon Martin and A.R. Baxa.

Long term Federal Land Bank loans were available at 4%.

92 Years Ago – 1932

J.A. Vondracek, proprietor and operator of Wagner Harness and Shoe Shop announced he sold his establishment to J.S. Hofer of Lake Andes.

Joe Abdouch was a democratic candidate for County Auditor.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Martin Scott.

Mr. and Mrs. JJ Barta moved from their farm in Lawrence township to Wagner and occupied the house north of the Corey Store.
