C. Red Allen is running for mayor Lake Andes.

Country Pride Coop hired Angela Koenig to rejoin the team as a feed consultant.

Senior Spotlights highlighted Brandi Ober and Brady Soulek.

The 5th Grade Destination Imagination team participated in the State DI Tournament in Pierre.

Carolyn Blaha and Schylar Juffer received a Certificate of Merit in the Junior group division at the Regional Science Fair.

WCS held their annual Prom, “Welcome to Cabo”. Homecoming Royalty were Dylan Brunsing, King; Gina Soukup, Queen; Hannah Fleming, princess; and Jacob Woods, prince.

Sidney Schroeder and Logan Picotte, members of the 2014 Wagner Community School Prairie Reader team, earned third place in the high school division of the Prairie Reader competition.

20 Years Ago - 2004

The 109th unit was welcomed home with a ceremony in Vermillion and area soldiers arrived in Wagner/ Pickstown that evening from their tour of duty in Iraq.

A card shower was held in honor of Ray and Helen Weber’s 65th wedding anniversary.

Chet and Angela Eitemiller announced the birth of their son.

Steve Donelan and Carol Slaba were honored at HIS. Both received plaques from the HIS staff thanking them for their service and hard work.

Army Pvt. Jonathan M. Podzimek graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

30 Years Ago – 1994

Tom Studelska was named Assistant Wrestling Coach of the Year.

Stacy Holzbauer and Kerry Swatek were selected as Girl State delegates and Jennifer Kuhlman and Rhiana Payer were their alternates.

Boys Staters chosen were Jamie Schroeder and Adam Wiechmann with alternates being Matt Cihak and Travis Slaba.

45 Years Ago – 1979

Lynn Uecker and Theresa Kocer were chosen to represent Wagner at Girls State alternatives were Patty Kokesh and Nan Crisman.

The city of Dante received a grant from Heritage Conservations and and Recreation Service for improvements to the local ball field.

Debra Schroeder and Earl McGee announced their engagement. 60 Years Ago – 1964

The Ram Rods with Little Joe was the band playing at Rest Haven.

Sarah Jordan and Monica Soukup attended a bookkeeping course in Kansas City, MO. The course was sponsored by Consumer Cooperative Association.

Tractor Tires were 9.5/9.24 – 4 ply were $47.35 each at Farmer’s Co-op.

70 Years Ago – 1954

Specials at James Drug: Old Spice After Shave, 4 ¾ oz – $1.00; Easter greeting cards, 5 cents to 25 cents each; Brownie 120 Camera, $4.75.

Ruth Anderson was the winner of the Americanism Essay Contest sponsored by the American Legion.

Norma Jean Hall was chosen to represent Ravinia at Girls State, Wilma Birger, alternate.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Uherka, a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rommann and a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Donald Metteer.

92 Years Ago – 1932

Murray hatchery had 1500 baby chicks on hand at 6, 7, and 8 cents each; also 1000 chicks that were one to three weeks old. Remember, 1 dozen eggs was worth 2 lbs. of live pork and 1 lb. of poultry was worth 4 lbs. of pork. Albert Vogel manager.
