10 Years Ago – 2014

Wagner held their annual Farm, Home, Garden & Sports Show.

Terence Krcil and Alexandra Dvorak were featured in this week’s senior spotlight.

Wagner Community School held the Make It Happen Conference.

Mark’s Machinery held an open house.

Buche Foods made big changes to the freezer section of the store. They updated all the freezer units and added an additional 19 freezers.

Ali Kuca and Emi ly Brunsing were named to the SESD All Conference team.

Academic All-State awards went to Kayla Deurmier, Delaynie Dickerson and Gina Soukup.

Ali Kuca was voted MVP; Bethany Sully was voted most improved and Gina Soukup received the hustler award for the girls’ basketball team.

Ali Kuca and Gina Soukup were named to the LMVC All Conference team with Emily Brunsing receiving honorable mention.

20 Years Ago – 2004

Stephanie Carda was named youth winner of the 2004 Tradition of Caring Jefferson Award for Public Service sponsored by KELOLAND TV and Toshiba American Business Solutions.

Joe and Darcy Kuhlman announced the birth of their son.

Laurie Jurrens received a certificate for 10 years of service to the U.S. Postal Service.

The Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Conference was held. It was sponsored by the Yankton Sioux Tribal Tourism and the Wagner Chamber of Commerce.

Twenty-four students from Marty Indian School attended the Indian Youth Conference 2000 held at the Crossroads Inn in Huron.

A dinner was held at the Pizza Ranch in Yankton to honor Dorland Rolston who retired from the Conservation District after 16 years of service.

Mandy Koupal was tabbed the State Farm/Women’s Basketball Coaches Association National Player of the Year for NCAA Division II.

30 Years Ago – 1994

Skip and Cheryl Brenden were the new managers of the Tomahawk Speedway.

Town & Country held a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at their new location, 207 S. Main.

The American Legion celebrated their 75th year.

Yost’s Wagner Locker held a Grand Opening.

A son, Taylor, was born to Bridget and Chris Fechner.

The temperature on April 1 was 74 degrees, low was 29 degrees.

45 Years Ago – 1978

Linda Youngbluth, Kelly Kiser, Eva Dvorak and Doreen Honomichl were the cheerleader for the Raider basketball team.

Randy Andersh, with the help of Tom Harley snagged a 98 lb. paddlefish.

Karen Anderson and Rick Bastemeyer exchanged vows.

60 Years Ago – 1964

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. George Esterling; a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stock; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Gary McFarland a son to Mr. and Mrs. Leo Gau.

Bruce Jespersen was stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.

Rayburn Reub announced he would be a candidate for the office of State Senator.

70 Years Ago – 1954

Robert Smith and Arnold Horner were selected by the Rotary Club and VFW to attend the 1954 session of Boys State. Martin Ober was selected as their alternate.

Marlene Halstead and Arthur Hagen exchanged vows.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Dick Ridgeway; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Ben Soukup and a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nagel.

92 Years Ago – 1932

Donald Knight and Edmond Fischer were new pupils to the third grade at the Wagner school.

Sheriff Charles Coles exchanged vows with Sophia Ross.

Hazel Grim won second place in the humorous division of the Declamatory contest.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Emil Youngbluf.
