American Legion District #7 Commander Merle Stone and District #7 Vice Commander Gary Coleman were awarded gifts at the American Legion Midwinter Conference in recognition of District #7 having achieved 92% of its membership goal by Veteran’s Day.

The Cletus and Julie Wiechmann family were named Family of the Year by the Knights of Columbus.

The Wagner wrestlers won the State B Wrestling Crown. Danny Swatek won his first state title and Travis Slaba claimed his third state title.

45 Years Ago – 1979

Four hundred and fifty people attended the 25th anniversary open house of Haar Implement. Hugo and Henrietta were over 50 years old when they bought the Wagner business in 1954.

Julie Vesper was the Sweepstakes winner in the Home Economics divisions at the mid-winter fair held in Lake Andes. Sharla Vesper was the Youth Sweepstakes winner.

60 Years Ago – 1964

Lois Koupal and Cleo Broz announced their engagement.

A goal of $25000 was set to raise funds to furnish the rooms at Wagner Good Samaritan Home. The VFW and Knights of Columbus each donated $500.00.

Ralph E. Horner was promoted to Airman second class.

Mr. and Mrs. Carol Rehwaldt celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

70 Years Ago – 1954

A wedding dance in honor of Bob Morrow and Lucille Hiegert was held at Pickstown.

Reverand C.C. Rouillard passed away. Reverand Rouillard had been the Episcopal Mission Pastor in SD for over 20 years.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Leland Steele and a son to Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Johnson.

Kenny Oleson resigned his position as manager of Thompson Yards in Wagner.
