10 Years Ago – 2014

Wagner Day was held at the State Legislative Session. The day was reserved for several city council and chamber members to spend the day sharing what Wagner offers.

Jamey Gunter returned to Wagner to work as a stylist at the Mane Event.

Kari Lynn Rucktaeschel was the first baby born at Wagner Community Hospital in 1994.

Wagner gymnasts qualified to enter regional competition in Vermillion.

Jane Andersh celebrated her 60th birthday.

Roger Blaha was chosen Fire Chief and Roger Schroeder was Assistant Fire Chief of the Wagner Fire Protection District.

Shannon Engel and Keven Dumdie announced their engagement.

Bill Schlosser sold his barber shop to Lee Sears.

Jay D. Youngbluth was named Proud Angler by SD Game, Fish and Parks with his catch of a 2 lb. 14 oz. small mouth bass.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Soukup moved to Wagner to reside in the residence purchased from Mrs. Faye Gilreath. Frank Soukup Jr. moved to the Frank Sr. farm.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Luke and a son to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tollefson.

70 Years Ago – 1954

Mr. and Mrs. Carol Rehwaldt celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

Students receiving Superior ratings at the Music Contest held in Kimball were Deanna Duncanson, Lanning Mollet, Norman Andersh and Norma Martin.

Ernest Johannsen arrived in Korea where he was an instructor in maintenance and heavy equipment.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Metteer on Feb 13.

92 Years Ago – 1932

DaleBradley,DonaldBurke and Gerald and Dale Daily were skating on Choteau Creek.

Relief had been received for the livestock of destitute farmers in this section of the county after a solicitation program sponsored by the local Chamber of Commerce and American Legion. A carload shipment of 1500 bu. Of corn was secured with promise of several other cargos of grain, a gift from the people of Hamburg, IA. The Farmer’s Cooperative donated a carload of hay and the House of Gurney at Yankton promised a carload of hay. Red Cross provided transportation and donated products.
