Timothy Simmermon of Lake Andes competed in the 1998 South Dakota State Fair placing 1st. He then went on to win 1st place at the 1998 national event held in Omaha, NE. This qualified him for the international tournament of 1999. He competed against Canada's top five finishers as well as the other top pullers from the United States to win his fifth place trophy.
