Dustin Jerold was born to Dr. and Mrs. Clayton Van Balen. Mrs. Van Balen is the niece of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Vesely. Eric Ravers was born to Ron and Judy McEntaffer. Local grandparent was Naomi McEntaffer. Cheryl Pavel had the Grand Champion sheep at 4-H Achievement Days.

Merle Buum, manager of L.A.Co-op Service Station, went on a Co-op sponsored trip to Eau Claire, WI. A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Bud Brooks. W.H. Longwood, Ravinia Superintendent, and his wife resigned their positions with the school to accept Civil Service appointments.

Bill Stedronsky bought a clothing business from Judy Smith. At a joint meeting of the City Council and school board, a plan was worked out by which the city schools would organized a fifty or sixty piece band which would fill a long felt want of a municipal band in the area.
