53rd Annual Fort Randall Traditional Wacipi was announced to be held in Lake Andes July 31st - Aug 2. Andes State Bank announced the following promotions: Dan Park, Vice President and Patti Ronfeldt, Assistant Vice President. Andes Central got a new door to the gym after adding a storage area.

20 Years Ago - 1999

Wollman's Andes Pharmacy became a new Drop-Off Point for the Lake Andes Wave and the Announcer. Bill Eastman was introduced as the new Game Warden for the Charles Mix County area. He moved here with his wife and 15-week-old son, Braydin, from Rapid City.

30 Years Ago - 1989

Lake Andes Midgets took 1st place in Little League Tourney. Those on the team were Ryan Svatos, Zack Zilgore, Dustin Longe, JD Bruner, Josh Svatos, Danny Bures, Scott Little, Rick Dvorak,s Bob Winckler, Jon Stirling, Rudy Arpan, Coach Bob Nelson and Asst. Coach Kevin Adel. 40 Years Ago - 1979 SEE PHOTO Lake Andes VFW Teeners were East West Rosebud League Champs and they were runners up in the Region III Tournament. 50 Years Ago - 1969 Fourteen young ladies vied for Fish Day Queen. 60 Years Ago - 1959 The Game, Fish & Parks department was planning a display in Huron of old hunting, fishing, and trapping licenses from early 1900s. 70 Years Ago - 1949 Bullheads, crappies and bluegills were put into Lake Andes by the State Fish Hatcheries. 80 Years Ago - 1939 The Lake Andes lake was all but dry and was basically a dust bowl. The two proposed dikes were doomed for failure due to lack of funding unless the project could be done through the WPA. Carl Floete from the Armour area constructed a grasshopper catcher. He used it on one acre of corn and had bushels of them caught.
