SDSU announced the dean's list for fall 2015. Among those students were Kimberly Koupal of Dante, Alexander Kocer, Anthony Anderson, Branson Tolliver, Brandi Ober, Miranda Crisman, Karlee Schroeder, and Breanna Cuka, all of Wagner.

The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society announced plans to close the assisted living unit at Good Samaritan Society-Wagner as of December 31, 2015.

20 YEARS AGO

1996

'TV Commercials' was announced as the theme for the 1996 Wagner Labor Day celebration.

Lori and Kurt Teets of Corona, CA announced the arrival of a daughter, Emily Rose, born on December 28. Grandparents are Mike and Florence Kokesh, Wagner, and Rex and Joni Teets, Poway, CA.

Krista Erickson and Angie Carda received Master of Science degrees in occupational therapy at the University of South Dakota.

Richard Hoffman retired after 32 years of selling American Family Insurance. 30 YEARS AGO

1986

Jean Pirner was a $10,000 winner in the 1985 Easter Seal Sweepstakes sponsored by Boyle-Midway, a division of American Home Products Corp.

Sgt. Randy L. Thaler arrived on duty with the 4th Cavalry at Ft. Riley, KS.

The Lunch Bucket Drive-Inn will be known as the Boom's Drive-Inn after the first of the year.

Russell Carey, former editor of the Wagner Post, passed away January 4.

Mike J. Soukup was selected 'Knight of the Year,' by Wagner Knights of Columbus.

Dr. M.A. Schuurmans was chosen President of the Chamber of Commerce with Roelie Whetsel, vice president, and Delores Nedved, secretary.

1961

Mrs. Arthur Breen announced the sale of the Lake Andes Wave to Mr. Jerry Tipens of Salem.

The Wagner area received 11 inches of snow on New Years Day.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kulhavy of Dante.

David Orton, Richard Honke, Arthur McDonald, and John Bucholz were presented Cub Scout graduation certificates and Boy Scout knives.

1946

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Emil Yungbluth.

Reverend Jensen and Elton Brosz were new members to the Wagner Rotary Club.

The flu epidemic reached full force in Wagner.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Johnson were the proud parents of a 12 pound daughter.

Eighty acres of improved farm ground was priced at $2,000. B.J. Flannery also had a 160 acre farm on the market for $5,300.
