Several area students received degrees at the University of South Dakota's 20th winter commencement exercises held Saturday, December 16 in Slagle Auditorium, Vermillion. Students from Wagner were Angela C./ Carda, Master of Science; Judith Ann Cihak, Bachelor of Science in Education; and Krista Kay Gies Erickson, Master of Science. Michael B. Redlightning, Marty also received a Master of Science degree.
Mike and Tammy Swanson announced the birth of their son Aaron Michael, born November 13 in Yankton. He joins brother Jared, 4, and sister Megan, 2.
A Japanese Mortar Round that was donated to be displayed in the Charles Mix County Courthouse, was found to be live, and was detonated at the Wagner City Dump on December 15. Anyone with war memorabilia that could be dangerous was encouraged to contact law enforcement.

A three year old Brown Swiss cow consigned by Frank M. Slama sold for $1400 during the registered Brown Swiss Imperial Sale held at Golden, CO.
