10 YEARS AGO

2015

The newly inducted National Honor Society members for 2015 were Abby Beeson, Ben Soukup, Chloe Noteboom, Cole Soulek, Ebony Oliveros, Jensen Holzbauer, Josh Cimpl, Katelin Woods, Kelsey Barnett, Kristan Soukup, Madyson Hanson, NAthan Kucera, Rachel Dion, Sidney Juffer, Sydney Dvorak, Tatum Wren, Tavia Podhradsky, and Tyra Honomichl.

The Class of 1959 gathered at the Lakeside Motel. Class members present were Ray and Bonnie Soukup, Lee Bridge, Dorothy (Soukup) Walker, Jack Carr, Carol (Jones) Durham, and Joyce (Efta) Sanders.

John Otte, passionate and dedicated pilot, spoke about his love for flying and his overall responsibilites as the airport manager for the Wagner Municipal Airport and president of the South Dakota Aviation Assosciation.

20 YEARS AGO

2005

Nicole Krcil was named a queen candidate for Black Hills State University. Nicole is the daughter of Don and Marilee Krcil of Wagner.

Student Council officers at Wagner Community School included Chase Kuhlman, Crystal Dvoracek, Tate Cuka, CJ Krcil, Kathryn Fleming, Jenny Eggers and Mrs. Laurel Valentine, advisor.

Larry Blaha retired from the fire department. He served for 21 years and was Fire Chief from 1991-1993. Justin Bouza assumed Blaha's position.

30 YEARS AGO

1995

Ernie Bures celebrated his 80th brithday.

Jolene Arrow won a pickup truck given away by Subway. Gloria Gunnare was named the Employee of the Month at the Wagner Good Samaritan Center.

45 YEARS AGO

1980

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Mark Cuka.

Bernadette Kokesh was honored at a bridal shower. Ralph and Hazel Davis celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

50 YEARS AGO

1975

Marine Private Clifford Wahcahunka completed training at Camp Pendleton, California.

Harlan Hamm of Mitchell, received his Doctor of Philosophy Degree at Southern Illinois University.

60 YEARS AGO

1965

Thomas E. Moriarty received his Doctors Degree from the University of Oregon.

Mr. and Mrs. Cummings celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.

92 YEARS AGO

1933

A disastrous fire swept the pastry room of Shay's Cafe.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Loren Troxell. Velma Barnard and Franic Fitzgerald exchanged vows. Ida Anderson, member of Always Busy 4-H Club of Lake Andes placed first on her wool dress at the State Fair.
