2015

Raymond and Bonnie Soukup were announced as the 2015 Labor Day Parade Marshals. Members of the 2015 Labor Day Committee were Miranda Medricky, Mavrick Hill, Ryan Beeson, Steve Cotton, Amanda Gross, Jordan Wunder, Samantha Dvorak, Tyler Cuka, and Taylor Mohr.

The 2015 Wagner Area Mens Slow Pitch League Tournament Champions were Todd Link, Richard Kokesh, Eric Cimpl, Jay Carda, Josh Woods, Jordan Weber, Jason Deurmier, Kenny Thaler, Dave Woods, Kyle Deurmier, Taylor Mohr, Brady Petrik, and Tommy Kocer.

The 2015 Labor Day Queen Candidates were Abby Beeson, Alexus Dion, Jensen Holzbauer, Bree Kotab, Morgan Lensing, Hailee Mattis, Sadie Eitemiller, Promise Mace, Kristin Soukup and Katelin Woods.

20 YEARS AGO

2005

Mike Dvoracek, a junior at the University of Sioux Falls and Wagner graduate, scored four touchdowns for the Cougars and was named GPAC/Hauff Mid America Sports Football Offensive Player of the Week.

Students at the Wagner Community School participated in a Teddy Bear Parade in honor of “Red Ribbon Week”.

A new program was offered at the Boys & Girls Club called “ACHIEVEMENT MATTERS!” The program focused on three areas: academics, citizenship and club participation.

Romaine and Helen Kocer, owners of Farmall Acres, sponsored a pumpkin-decorating contest. Laurelle Gunhammer won first place in the painted division and Colton Frei took first in the carved division. The Donelan residence took first place in the display division.

Kenny Cooke and Jamie Schunk were crowned Homecoming Royalty at Marty Indian School.

Gene Dressler shot a 6x6 bull elk in the northern hills near Spearfish.

A daughter was born to both Doug and DeNelle Johanneson and Scott and Anne Podrasky.

1980

Major Richard D. Gross assumed command of the 137th Engr. Bn. succeeding Lieutenant Colonel Donald D. Owens.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Donald Slaba and a daughter to Don and Marlene Harrington.

PFC Alvie Greger was stationed in Vietnam.

Alan Johnson was serving aboard the aircraft carrier “Hornet”.

Christine Soukup and David Taylor announced their engagement.

Cub Scouts Larry Hoffman and Steven Kocer were presented Boy Scout knives. Scouts Daniel Orton and Jim Jaeger received silver arrows.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. George Houska, a son to Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Wunder and a son to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Barkley.
