Senior Companions of Eastern South Dakota celebrated 37 years of service. Senior Companions that served in Bon Homme, Charles Mix, Lincoln, McCook, Minnehaha, Turner, Union and Yankton counties, were all recognized during this time.

Scott Doom, volunteer board president of the Boys and Girls Club of the Yankton Sioux was honored in Walker, MN, at MW Great Plains Area council meeting. He was named “outstanding board volunteer” and was recognized for his eight years of volunteer service to the Wagner Club.
Wagner School Board member Joe Hall has been selected to receive the Associated School Boards of South Dakota Award of Merit.

Larry Schacht was promoted to President and Managing Officer of First Dakota National Bank in Wagner.
Sarah Goldhammer retired as Administrator of the Wagner Good Samaritan Center; Michelle Juffer will fill the role.
A homecoming was held for American Legion State Commander, Terry Anderson.

Tom and Karol Kocer were named the nation’s Catholic Family of the Year at the annual Knights of Columbus convention held in Atlanta, GA.
Patty Krcil and Ron Pavel exchanged vows. Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Uecker celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Over forty members of the Knights of Columbus baled and hauled 1,300 bales of hay to winter quarters for Adolph Payer who was hospitalized.
Judy Deurmier was honored at a bridal shower. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Derald Engel and a son to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Komich.
Thelma Cudley and Fredrick Koupal exchanged vows.

Lillian Hakl operated a beauty parlor in Brookings. Mike Soukup, Steve Hakl and Leo Kostel attended the Center of Progress held in Chicago, IL. Leo Kaiser and Dave Weinstein hitchhiked both ways. Out of 1400 miles they only had to walk about ten miles.
A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Art Johnson.
