Sue Morell was awarded South Dakota’s English Teacher of the Year.

The Boys and Girls Club of the Missouri River Area congratulated Dustin Honomichl and Korey Patterson as March’s Youth of the Month.

Former Mayor Sharon Haar presented the keys to the city to newly sworn in Mayor Donald Hosek.

Karlee Schroeder was crowned Labor Day Queen. Wagner wrestling team earned 3rd in the state. David Kocer won the 160-pound weight class division and Tyler Dion won the 138-pound weight class division.

2012

Todd Zephier and Eliza Weddell of Wagner welcomed a baby girl, Talilah, to their family at 7:30 a.m., on New Year’s Day for the first baby born at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in 2012.

The Wagner Alumni Committee presented the Wagner Community School with official mascot uniforms in the form of our official Tiger symbol that had been used for many years.

Bridget Fousek graduated from Northwestern Health Sciences University with a degree in Doctor of Chiropractic and Acupuncture.

Michael Denker was named to the Associated School Boards of South Dakota Outstanding School Board Member of the Year.

Cindy Krcil was recognized by the United States Postal service for her 25 years of service.

Julia Thornton and Tyler Sassaman of Wagner welcomed a new baby boy, Jacob James Sassaman on March 18.

The Missouri River flooded. Fort Randall Casino held its ribbon cutting for the new casino.

Albert and Rita Kocer were chosen as the Labor Day Parade Grand Marshals.

Jordan Weber, a resident of Wagner received a Master of Medical Science Physician Assistant Degree from Saint Louis University.

2010

Dorothy Holzbauer and Larry Blaha were named Wagner Citizens of the Year at the Wagner Rotary year-end picnic.

Sherri Fuchs was selected by the Charles-Mix County Commissioners to fill the auditor’s position.

Local volunteer fire departments including Wagner, Lake Andes, Dante, and Avon were called to Fred Haar Inc. to battle a fire that destroyed the front showroom, offices, and the parts department.

Wagner Theater was opened on New Year’s Eve.

Wagner Community Memorial Hospital-Avera (WCMH-A) announced a $2 million addition.

Devon Brecke and Jilanne Doom were named to the Girls’ Basketball All-Tournament Team at the State “A” Basketball Tournament.
