10 Years Ago – 2014 Santa made a stop in Wagner. After pictures with Santa, a free movie was shown in the Wagner Theater to a large group of parents and children. These events were sponsored by the Wagner Chamber of Commerce.

The 110th anniversary of the Wagner Post was celebrated with refreshments at an open house to visit with the staff.

A card shower was requested by the family of Dorothy Jones in honor of her 90th birthday.

Tracy Leines opened up his business, iFix Device Repair, LLC.

In honor of Bobcat selling one-million Skid Steer Loaders, Bobcat matched a donation by Mark’s Machinery to donate $1000 in total to the Wagner Boys and Girls Club.

The Wagner gymnastics team won 1st place at their home tournament.

Volleyball Academic All-Staters for Wagner were Karlee Schroeder and Brooklyn Tolliver.

Brooklyn Tolliver was named to the Class A All-State team, and teammate Emily Brunsing received honorable mention.

20 Years Ago – 2004 The Wagner Post will celebrate 100 years on December 29th. The Wagner Post was established in 1904 under the name of the Wagner Leader. The first issue was published on April 5, 1912.

Farrah Red Fawn Westerman was born to Daryl Arpan, Jr. and Chenoa Westerman.

Jazmin Marie Ehrisman was born to George and Cindy Ehrisman.

Deldrick Samson St. Pierre was born to Eliza Weddell and Dominique St. Pierre.

Receiving their memberships into the South Dakota Designers Club were Liz Pravecek and Lois Pravecek. The South Dakota Designers Club is a division of the Floral Studies Department of Southeast Technical Institute.

30 Years Ago – 1994 Five inches of snow fell in the Wagner area.

Jay Youngbluth was the big winner of the Chamber of Commerce Holiday promotion, a Black Hills vacation for four.

45 Years Ago – 1979 First place winners in the annual Knights of Columbus free throw contest were Chad Peters, Becky Soukup, Ted Bartunek, Bernadette Kocer, Jeff Fischer, Eugene Soukup, and Colleen Kocer.

60 Years Ago – 1964 Six Wagner high school students achieved the “A” honor roll: Penny Morgen, senior; Steven Kirbey and Kathleen McCowell, juniors; Diane Frager and Karen Brookman, sophomores; and Richard Honke, freshman.

70 Years Ago – 1954 The Izaak Walton elected Ray Mazourek president; Jim Mullen, secretary; Ed Broz, treasurer; Charles Kostel, first-vice; and Glen Ahrens, second- vice.

The Wagner Post celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Mrs. Norman Woods was honored at a surprise birthday get together.

Lois Lassen and Harold Sparks exchanged vows. They made their home in California.

92 Years Ago – 1932 Frank Doty and Grandpa Mann were honored at a surprise birthday party.

A set of triplet calves was born on the Joseph Holzbauer farm.

Dorothy Neubauer and Gladice Hiatt were amongst the debaters that took part in the triangular practice debate between Yankton, Southern Normal, and the University of SD.

A miscellaneous shower was held in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fuchs Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Doles.
