10 Years Ago – 2014

There was an excellent wrestling match keeping the Raiders on the edge of their seats. Two highlights from that match were Preston Nedved notching his first varsity win and Jacob Kvigne’s overtime win.

20 Years Ago – 2004

Glenn Eugene Warren Cournoyer was born to Mandee Kezena and John Cournoyer.

In Wagner boys’ basketball, Jon Doom and Bubba Slaba led the way in scoring with 10 points each, while Michael Hill gave a nice effort in his first varsity start as he netted eight counters, Ryan Krcil added four points while Matt Ishmael and Cassius Kocer rounded out the scoring by tallying two points apiece.

The Wagner girls’ basketball team had a strong offensive performance by their seniors with Janelle Kuhlman having a game high of 17 points, Kristi Soukup tossed in 14 points and Kara Schroeder who was held scoreless in the first half, responded with 13 points in the second half.

30 Years Ago – 1994

Beverly Ann Soukup and Lance Platz announced their engagement.

Ed and Addie Kapfenstein celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.

A son was born to Tom and Susan Goodrich.

45 Years Ago – 1979

Major General Duane L. Corning presented Chief Warrant Officer Donald F. Barta with the Department of Army Commendation Medal for exceptional service.

Randy Pirner was named to the Classs A All-State football team.

Harvey Weisser was elected president of the Chamber of Commerce; Dora Faughender, vice-president; Connie Ishmael, secretary; and Rob Frei, treasurer.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Gary Kafka.

60 Years Ago – 1964

William Bertram was elected president of the Chamber of Commerce; Bob Rezac, vice-president; John Faughender, secretary; and Shorty Engel, treasurer.

Mr. and Mrs. George Denker celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

70 Years Ago – 1954 Registrants inducted into the armed service this month were Maynard Beck, Raymond Kostel, Richard Andersh, Dwaine Wynia and William Nash.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Bures, a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Leon Kirchevel and a daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. William Bures.

92 Years Ago – 1932

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Fredrick.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Homolka celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
