Those elected for Charles-Mix County were Randy Thaler for Sheriff and Sherri Fuchs for Auditor. Other representatives elected were Mike Rounds as Senator; Dennis Daugaard as SD Governor; Lee Qualm as State Representative; Kristi Noem as US Representative; Rich Sattgast as State Treasurer; Steve Barnett for State Auditor; Shantel Krebs as Secretary of State; Gary Hanson for Public Utilities Commissioner; Ryan Brunner for Commissioner of School and Public Lands; and Marty Jackley for Attorney General.

Dave and Eileen Carda celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Marty Indian School performed “Rapunzel” under the direction of the Missoula Children’s Theatre.

Sydney Dvorak was the Hereford Sweepstakes winner at the Western Junior Livestock Show.

Seven members of the WCS FFA chapter attended the FFA National Convention in Louisville, KY. Those in attendance were Ashley Koupal, Sarah Koupal, Jennifer Geidd, Taylor Eitemiller, Colton Frei, Cole Soulek and Abby Beeson.

Dan and Teanna (Winburn) Kuhlman were united in marriage.

Amy Blaha, a student at the SD School of Mines and Technology was included in the 27th Annual Edition of The National Dean’s List, 2003-2004.

Ivy Sully was one student to be named to the 2003-2004 Edition of Who’s Who Among American High School Students – Sports Edition.

Marty Indian School’s October students of the month were TaSheena Zephier, Elizabeth Eddy, Deonne Cavender and Levi Apple.

The South Dakota Extension Association of Family and Consumer Science honored Karen Petrik.

Fire caused extensive damage to Buche’s store in Wagner.

Mr. and Mrs. John Dostal celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

A daughter was born to Kelly and Lisa Brandt.

Elizabeth Loiseau and John Hollmann announced their engagement.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ron Pelton.

A corn picking and hay hauling bee was held for Clement Havranek who was in the Sioux City Hospital recovering from major surgery.

Leonard Honomichl, Keith Fischer and Leo Holzbauer left for training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.

Marie Cabalka and Carol Gustafson exchanged vows.

The Men’s Traveling Bowling team won over Delmont, winning six games and losing two. Jim Crosby had high series, 632 and high game, 201.

Franklin D. Roosevelt, Governor of New York was elected President of the United States.

As an interesting post-election development, barley was quoted at four cents per bushel above pre-election quotations. Hog prices were up from 10 cents to 15 cents and cattle showed an advance of 25 cents.

Mrs. H.L. Wilson was caring for her new son who arrived at the K.R. Lindberg home.
