10 Years Ago - 2014 WCS students began preparing for the upcoming Veteran’s Day program hosted annually at the school. The theme was “The Sacrifices Made for Our Freedom.'

Eight Tau members of the Delta Kappa Gamma met in Pickstown. Sue Isebrands presented the program on her 7-day educational tour of Costa Rica with six of her Spanish students from Avon and Tyndall.

Commercial State Bank donated and served root beer floats to the residents of the Wagner Good Samaritan Society.

The Wagner Boys and Girls Club partnered with Samsung to stir area youth’s excitement about STEM.

Maggie Barnett and Sadie Eitemiller competed in the State Cross Country Meet. Barnett finished in 60th place and Eitemiller finished in 94th place.

20 Years Ago – 2004 Carol Kniffen retained her position as Charles-Mix County Treasurer. Kniffen has served as County Treasurer for the past 20 years.

Larry Blaha was hired for the City of Wagner Maintenance/Supervisor position.

Tammy Lupton and Randy Houska were united in marriage.

Leigh Anne (Tuttle) Bietz and Scott Robert Larson were united in marriage.

John Holzbauer and Katie Holzbauer received the American FFA Degree at the 77th National FFA Convention in Louisville, KY.

The class of 1984 held their 20-year class reunion.

Buche Foods celebrated their 99th anniversary.

30 Years Ago – 1994 Dean Bertsch received his Doctor of Psychology degree.

Travis Slaba, Jason Weber, and Dan Swatek were chosen to represent Wagner on the ALL SESD Conference team.

Gary Olson, Stacy Holzbauer, Lee Howard, and Kevin Kaberna participated in the All-State Chorus held in Rapid City.

45 Years Ago – 1979 Vicki Broz, Julie Johannsen, and Julie Harmon were selected to participate in the 22nd annual Augustana Bank Festival.

A son was born to David and Karen Kuhlman.

60 Years Ago – 1964 The Wagner high school football team made a clean sweep of conference wins when they won over the Gregory Gorillas 13-0 to round out a perfect season.

The DeNoma Farm City Pure Oil bulk plant was destroyed by fire, and explosion occurred when an arcing pull switch ignited fumes the instant pumping began.

70 Years Ago – 1954 Mr. Lawrence Kirkhevel and Mrs. Lorraine Crisman were honored at a post nuptial bridal shower.

Mr. and Mrs. Grant Troxell were honored on their 65th wedding anniversary.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wilson and a son to Mr. and Mrs. Keith Deurmier.

Ida Eddy was teaching in Pierre.

92 Years Ago – 1932 Bessie Grimm was attending Springfield Normal, which was a teaching college.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Farley.

Albert Vogel was manager of the Murray Hatchery.

Alex Williamson was a member of the orchestra during the performance of “The Chimes of Normandy” at the Huron College auditorium.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Chytka.

G.F. Buche was the democratic candidate for state senator.
