10 Years Ago - 2014 The Wagner School hosted the “Our Fallen Heroes” Banner Program. The special banner program displayed 35 South Dakota heroes who had given their life in service to our country during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation New Dawn.
Kaleb Hartley and Bradyn Lhotak were named the Boys & Girls Club of the Missouri River Area September Youth of the Month.
WCS students that were selected to attend All-State Chorus/Orchestra concert were Taylor Eitemiller, Carolyn Blaha, Sierra Juffer, Nathan Kucera, Chloe Noteboom, Kelsey Barnett, Sadie Eitemiller, Drue Soukup, Andrew Soukup, and Jacob Kvigne.
The Boys and Girls Club Superbowl 14 was played between the Commercial State Bank Vikings and Buche Foods Huskers, with the Vikings winning after a very well-matched game.
Parents' night was held for the Red Raider football team. Seniors recognized were Trevor Lensing, Jacob Kvigne, Alex Sully, and Sineway Sully.
The Red Raider volleyball team won their seventh straight SESD title.
20 Years Ago – 2004 Barb Johannsen was named manager at First Dakota National Bank in Wagner.
Melissa Catherine Gabbert and Kelly Joseph Soukup announced their upcoming nuptials.
David Rezac took the oath for admission to the South Dakota Bar from Supreme Court Justice Meirhenry in Pierre.
Jenae Andersh, Joni Cuka, and Alycia Krcil were honored for receiving their Girl Scout Gold Award.
30 Years Ago – 1994 Ursula Uecker and Jay Staples announced their engagement.
Carrol “Shorty” Brown was honored by the Wagner Community School staff at a retirement party. Shorty had been employed at the school for 17 years.
Jennifer Kuhlman received the academic All-State Girls basketball award from Wagner Community School.
John Uecker, Don Hubbard, and Doug Koupal had a successful elk hunt at Granby, CO.
Friends and neighbors gathered at Richard and Beryl Uecker’s farm to harvest milo. Richard was recovering from a heart attack.
45 Years Ago – 1979 Harlan Horned Eagle graduated from the United Tribes Educational Technical Center. Horned Eagle accepted an LPN position at the Public Health Service.
Robert Moden Sr. and wife Jane took over the management of the Lunch Bucket.
60 Years Ago – 1964 Burton Evers purchased the Crisman Seed Store from Roy C. Crisman.
A farewell party was held for Gladys Broz before she moved to her new home in Harland, IA.
70 Years Ago – 1954 Joe Foss was elected Governor of South Dakota. U.S. Senator was Karl Mundt.
Dr. Raymond Jensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Jensen purchased the clinic in Culbertson, MT.
Word was received of the death of Walter W. Wagner. Mr. Wagner came to this territory in 1889 and operated a store south of Wagner. When the town of Wagner was founded, he moved here and was the first merchant in Wagner and the town was named after him.
Richard Andersh and Raymond Kostel left for the Army.
92 Years Ago – 1932 Martha Hakl was the Homecoming Queen.
