Candidates for the 2014 Homecoming King and Queen were Derek Soukup, Trevor Lensing, Jacob Woods, Hannah Fleming, Jamie Anderson, and Blanca Moreno. Queen Jamie Anderson and King Trevor Lensing were crowned WCS homecoming royalty.

A card shower was requested in honor of Irene Rysavy’s 94th birthday.

Sage Zephier was named one of six new members to the new National Learner Advisory Council.

Ruth Leines who worked for the Wagner Good Samaritan Society was awarded the SD Activity Coordinator Award.

Solomon St. Pierre, a WCS graduate and part of the University of Sioux Falls football team, was named NCIS defensive player of the week.

20 Years Ago – 2004

Kristi Soukup was named 2004-2005 WCS Homecoming Queen and Justin (Bubba) Slaba was crowned Homecoming King.

Jake Peters won the Ethanol Race of Champions at the 40th Annual Cheater’s Day race at Huset’s Speedway.

A community disaster drill was held.

Members of the WCS Culture Club traveled to Pierre and visited the WWII Memorial.

Homecoming campaign managers were Ryan Beeson for Derek Koupal; Tyson Johannsen for Bubba Slaba; Jared Carda for Matt Hill; Savannah Breen for Kristi Donelan; Tiffany Hrdlicka for Kristi Soukup; and Mateya Kuhlman for Janelle Kuhlman.

Michael Dvoracek rushed for 153 yards on 17 carries, the first 100-yard rushing game of the season for USF.

The Wagner volleyball team took care of Hanson in three games with scores of 25-20, 25-7, and 25-8. The win gives the Lady Raiders a 12-5 record on the year.

The Wagner football team used a well- balanced offense and a strong defensive effort to put away Parker-Hurley, 8-0. The win gives the Red Raiders a 5-1 season record.

30 Years Ago- 1994

The King Koin Laundry and Dry Cleaning was preparing to move to their new location at the north end of Two Spurs Steakhouse.

Subway held a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Kaberna celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

A wedding dance open house was held in honor of Lisa and Darwin Lightenberg.

45 Years Ago – 1979

Dale Kafka and Valeria Garman announced their engagement.

The North Street Birthday Club met in the home of Ida Stone to honor Zala Gillman on her birthday.

60 Years Ago – 1964

Carlene Crisman and Dean Hennies announced their engagement.

Rayburn Rueb and Owen R. Wipf joined their law practices and were known as Rueb and Wipf, Attorneys at Law.

L.A. Payer was elected president of the State Highway Association.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Efta.

70 Years Ago – 1954

Jim Moysis was a representative from SD on a trip to New York and Washington D.C. that was sponsored by the American Association for United Nations.

A baby shower was held for Mrs. Bob McEntaffer.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bohannon.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Melmer moved into their new home in Wagner.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Darren Broz.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. James Kavanaugh.
