10 Years Ago – 2014

The Wagner Labor Day Committee of the 114th Labor Day Celebration included Mike Novak, Miranda Medricky, Ryan Beeson, Marla Hewitt, Mavrick Hill, Taylor Mohr, Amanda Gross, Greg Neilsen and chairman, Steve Cotton.

Madyson Hanson and Chantal Zephier announced the birth of their niece, Lilyanne Grace with proud parents Courtney Hanson and Dakota Zephier.

LaVern Koupal was selected as a delegate to the 131th annual American Angus Association Convention of Delegates.

Megan Zephier played in the State ASA Fastpitch Tournament 16 & Under Division A with the Dakota Fury of Sioux Falls taking second place with her team. Megan and Halley Zephier then played in the National ASA Fastpitch Tournament 16 & Under Division B, taking home 4th place.

Wagner Community School welcomed new staff members for the 2014-2015 school year including Linda Ronspies, Ciera Hanson, Brenda Ehrmantraut, AK Folden, Mandy Koupal, Brittanie Blaseg, Samantha Weber, Anna Wasson, Brad Lhotak, Tom Cartney, Julie Amegashie, Megan Fischer, Talia Wince, Sherri Jenson, Loren Ross, Stephen Koupal, Wayne Hjellum and Mike Barron.

20 Years Ago – 2004

Glen and Lorean Schoepf, long time teachers at Wagner Community School, were chosen as the 2004 Labor Day Parade Marshals.

The Modern Woodmen made a donation to help build a new Labor Day lunch stand for the Wagner American Legion. Arnold Horner on behalf of the Modern Woodmen presented a check to American Legion member, Greg Mathis.

New staff joining the Wagner Community School were Cheryl Thaler, Pam Kocer, Jennifer Adams, Brandon Lowery, Jennifer Klumb, Joe Kafka and Kara Neugebauer.

Wagner Community School held a brat feed and student health fair.

A daughter was born to Lawrence and Kristi Heisinger.

Joe and Danelle Franchino announced the birth of their twin daughters, Morgan Faye and Marisa Gayle.

30 Years Ago – 1994

Donnelle Wiechmann was selected as 3rd runner up in the Miss SD All American Teen Pageant held in Huron.

New Directions held a “Going Out of Business Sale”. The store is closing its doors the last week of August.

Labor Day tickets were 10 for $3.

45 Years Ago – 1979

Fonder Fashions moved to its new location on South Main Avenue.

Labor Day Committee members were Don Kotab, Jim Leines, Nilus Johnson, Don Hubbard, Alan Pirner, Roy Kier, O.R. Wipf and chairman, Wally Payer.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Richard Leibel.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kelly.

Kimberly Pharis and Craig Weber exchanged vows.

60 Years Ago – 1964

Todd Johannsen celebrated his first birthday party held at his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Johannsen.

Joe Rados, Dante lost his hand while operating a silage cutter.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Zoss.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Wentland.

70 Years Ago – 1964

Lois Stone was honored at a miscellaneous bridal shower.

Joan Efta was honored at a miscellaneous bridal shower.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Norman Kelly, a son to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fuchs, a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Ed Seiner and a son to Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Peterson.

Elaine Giedd and Wayne Schroeder exchanged vows.

92 Years Ago – 1932

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wagner and Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Cummings departed on vacation for Yellowstone Park.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Melmer.
