The Huck Finn Day Fishing Tournament was held. Grand prize winners of bikes were King Horse Looking, Joanna Soukup, Camry Link and Shane Hubley.

National Guard enlistees who left for six months active duty at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO were Jack Smith, Francis Lhotak, Nobel Troxell, Victor Schoepf and Jerry Johnson. The 137th Engr. Bn. had 95 enlisted men, three warrant officers and 11 commissioned officers.
Joe Papik, police chief, received a salary of $300 a month.
A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Soulek, a son to Mr. and Mrs. Terry Carda and a son to Mr. and Mrs. Donald Fredrich.

The Reverend A.W. Kraft who spent many years in the ministry passed away. He was father of Mrs. Leo Gunhammer.
Lois Eitemiller was named the winner of the 4-H essay contest.
James T. Shields, Randall Reservoir fisheries biologist, estimated 7500 fishermen fished at the reservoir during May.

The results of the city school board election gave F.J. Farley, local attorney, the victory by 137 votes over his opponent, Dr. W.H. Hirsh.
Steve Hakl accompanied by Frank Kotab left for Chicago.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. William Strid. Mrs. Strid is the former Adelle Reelfa.
Miss Adeline Wagner and Paul Simmons exchanged vows. Mr. Simmons is the superintendent at Ravinia School.
Miss Grace Schuster left for New York where she will spend the summer attending Columbia University and the American School of Dramatics.
