JANUARY

• AC/DC Thunder starts off their season with a 6-0 Winning streak.

• Weather reached temperatures of 50 degrees.

• Yankton Sioux Tribe cleaned up the flooded area y lake andes in front of the housing area.

JUNE

• Emery Bultje was crowned Fish Days Queen and Brynlee Kazcor was crowned Little Miss Fishy.

• Several families brought their kids out to enjoy all the activities for Fish Days.

• Over 30 local youth participated in a five day dance camp taught by Jackie Bird hosted by Brave Heart Society.

• New Wayne Fueling pumps were installed and a 116 foot outdoor scale at the Lake Andes Farmers Coop.

• East Lake Andes Lutheran Church celebrated their 125th year of ministry.

NOVEMBER

• Andes Central held their annual Veterans Day Program with guest Speaker, Jay Maynard.

• Lake Andes Fire Department assists Wagner with Wagner Good Samaritan Fire.

• Andes central students attended the 70th Annual All-State Chorus and Orchestra.

• Andes Central FFA Students attended District LDE.

FEBRUARY

• Cahoy's makes big changes. They expanded the meat cutting room and walk-in cooler in the back portion of the building, a large beer cave is being put in and a Mighty Mojo Coffee Shop with a drive thru window is soon to come.

• The Annual Andes Central School Spelling B was held.

• After the official ground-breaking in October or 2020, the long -awaited new office and shop facility for the Charles Mix Electric Association opened to the public.

JULY

• Ravinia had a successful All School reunion with 84 alumni and guests.

• Charles Mix County competed in the annual 4-H Horse Show.

• Charles Mix County Lake Restoration Organization held their July 3rd Ribfest. Steve Stuluka and daughter Chloe took home he $500 first place prize.

• Bright and early Saturday morning paddlers racing in the Fort to Field 50 Paddle Battle filled the Randall Creek Rec Area to start off their race.

DECEMBER

• Lake Andes fire department fit tested ice Rescue gear.

• Andes Central School athletic award recognition with to: Volleyball: SCC Honorable Mention-Mahpiya, Syrianna, and Claire; 3rd Team LMVC-Claire GPC-Claire, Mahpiya, and Josie. Cross Country: Most Valuable Boy-Tony; Most Valuable Girl-Anna; Most Improved-Eilie; Cross Country Leadership Award-Lexi

MARCH

• The Lake Andes Library made some book purchases with their South Dakota State Library ARP Grant.

• Lake Andes Volunteer Fire Department received a $5,000 grant recently from South Dakota Salutes.

• Andes Central Elementary School hosted a family reading night and almost 50 Andes Central Students came with family and friends to read books and play games.

• Sheriff John Crisman retires after 27 years of service.

AUGUST

• A Brown Pelican was sighted in South Dakota, there have only been seven sightings of the Brown Pelican in South Dakota.

• Cayla Nelson named SD Teen 2022.

• Lake Andes Athletes played on the state runner up Wagner baseball team.

• Evonne's Dance Studio 'E Crew' performed at Disney's Performing Arts.

• Several 4-H Kids competed in 4-H Achievement days.

APRIL

• KDKO gave out the player of the year award for the 2021-2022 basketball season to Cameron Sybesma and Lexi VanderPol.

• Lake andes Fire department received six SCBAs from the AFGE Grant.

• Charles Mix Electric held their open house.

• Eric Schoenfielder and Alan Blackburn completed their Fire Fighter 1 and 2 training certifications.

• Several families came out on a chilly Saturday to the Lake Andes Nursing Home for their Annual Egg Hunt.

• A&A Eatery held their Grand Opening.

SEPTEMBER

• Roger Wiltz, the man behind the Rog's Rod and Nimrod column passed away to brain cancer.

• Hailey Fischer and Mahlon Bruguier were crowned Andes Central 2022HomecomingKingandQueen.

• Lake Andes Fire Department held their annual picnic where they gave out rides on the fire truck to the children.

• AC/DC Cross Country girls come home team champions of the Wagner Invitational.

MAY

• Andes Central FFA Students attended the State FFA Convention in Brookings. Bradley Dangel placed 7th in Ag Mechanics.

• 21 Senior students graduated from Andes Central.

• Some Lake Andes Firemen took the BLS/CPR training class.

• The 2022 Fish Days Marshalls were announced to be Deborah Ronfeldt and Elaine Bechen.

• Bradley Dangel received the academic excellence award from Governor Kristi Noem.

OCTOBER

• Lake Andes Fire Department held a grain bin training on Thursday, September 29th. This was free provided by Nation Wide Insurance and many local sponsors.

• State Award earned by Andes Central School board for efforts to enhance knowledge.

• AC/DC senior Anna Dehaan medaled at State Cross Country meet.
