FLOYD FARRAND INVITATIONAL
On Saturday December 22, the Red Raider Wrestling team traveled to Sioux Falls to take part in the Floyd Farrand Invitational. The Raiders finished in 7th place out of 18 teams with 111.0 points and Watertown winning the tournament with 208.5 points.
The Raiders had seven place winners on the day, with one champ. At 106 pounds Jagger Tyler finished in 4th place with a 4-2 record. At 113 pounds Riley Roberts finished in 5th place with a 3-2 record. At 120 pounds Lance Soukup finished in 4th place with a 2-2 record. At 126 pounds Bradyn Lhotak finished in 4th place with a 3-2 record. At 132 pounds Bain Kuhlman was unable to place and went 0-2 on the day. At 152 pounds Preston Nedved finished in 6th place with a 1-3 record. At 195 pounds KJ St.Pierre finished in 2nd place with a 3-1 record. At 285 pounds Dawson Lensing went 3-0 on the day and finished in 1st place.
The Raiders had a very solid day of wrestling where they were only 2 points out of 5th place. The guys continue to improve each time they step out on the mat. The coaching staff was pleased with the effort they continue to put on the mat and in the wrestling room.
MILLER/HIGHMORE/HARROLD INVITATIONAL
On Saturday January 5th, The Raiders traveled to Miller to compete in the Miller/Highmore/Harrold Invitational. This was a very tough class B tournament, where the Raiders were able to finish in 5th place out of 17 teams. The Raiders scored 141.5 points, where Burke/Gregory won the tournament with 211 points.
Jagger Tyler stepped on the mat for the Raiders at 106 pounds where he went 3 – 1 on the day and finished in 2nd place. At 113 pounds, Riley Roberts went 3 – 2 on the day and finished in 7th place. Lance Soukup went 4 – 0 on the day, where he finished in 1st place at 120 pounds. At 126 pounds, Bradyn Lhotak finished in 3rd place with a 3 -1 record on the day. At 132 pounds, Bain Kuhlman finished in 7th place with a 1 -2 record. At 145 pounds, Devon Medricky was unable to place where he went 0 – 2 on the day. At 152 pounds, Preston Nedved went 3 – 2 on the day and finished in 4th place. At 195 pounds, KJ St. Pierre finished in 3rd place with a 3 – 1 record. Dawson Lensing won the tournament at 285 pounds with a 3 – 0 record on the day.
The wrestling team had a tough day of competing and wrestled some very solid competition. This was a great learning opportunity for the Raiders and hope we continue to improve like we have been all season. The Raiders will be back in action on January 12th, where we will compete in the Jerry Opbreck Invitational in Mitchell.
