Twenty three Wagner Raider wrestlers traveled to Mitchell to compete for a spot in the State AAU tourney. Wagner had a great day qualifying 15 wrestlers for State in Brookings March 16 and 17. Wagner also had a handful of other wrestlers that were so close to making it to state. The top three place winners advanced to state. Region Champs were Grayson Knebel, Cruise Koupal, Steven Peters III, Gannon Knebel, Karstyn Lhotak , Jhett Breen and Bain Kuhlman. Finishing in second place were Luke Holzbauer, Frank Krcil, Kahle Hill, and Riley Roberts Third place finishers were David Sully, Hunter Wiechman, Bennet Kuhlman, and Tim Bouza. K’drian Weddell finished in fourth place and fifth place finishers were Mason Turner, Robert Frei and Alshamon Gunter. From Coach Alex Kocer: I was very pleased with how the team wrestled this weekend. I thought they wrestled with a lot of heart. I give a lot of credit to the older wrestlers that wrestled on the high school team. They took the younger kids under their wing and set a great example. The last weekend was by far the teams best performance of the year and I am looking forward to seeing what everyone can do at state this upcoming weekend in Brookings.
