WORK CONTINUES ON THE BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT

Work continues on the bridge replacement project for the US 18 bridge over the stream into St. Francis Bay. The bridge was replaced due to being at the end of its expected lifespan and increased maintenance costs and grading work is also being completed to improve safety and meet current roadway standards.

The State is also making intersection modifications at the US 18 and SD 50 junction in Lake Andes. By squaring up this intersection, it will make it easier to see oncoming traffic and improve safety.

In July the DOT completed barrier curbs and began work on approach slabs.

In August they are planning to comple the bridge, work on final grading and shaping, guardrail installation, temporary surfacing, and pavement marking.
