The Wagner boys junior varsity team delivered late-game drama Tuesday night in Woonsocket, escaping with a thrilling 39-36 victory over the Sanborn Central/ Woonsocket Blackhawks.

The game was tightly contested from the start, with the teams deadlocked 8-8 at the end of the first quarter. Wagner found its rhythm in the second period, building a 25-18 lead by halftime behind a strong offensive surge.

The Blackhawks clawed their way back in the second half and managed to tie the game with just under six seconds remaining, setting the stage for late-game heroics. With time winding down, Jackson Woods buried a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Raiders the dramatic road win.

Jakhi Tiger led Wagner with 12 points. AJ Kotab caught fire in the second quarter, knocking down three 3-pointers and finishing with nine points. Payne Petry added six points, while Woods and Avery Medicine Bear each scored four. Ron Knudsen rounded out the scoring with two points.

Wagner will travel to Chamberlain on Friday night for its next contest.
