WILL YOU SHARE A MEMORY OR TWO?
All elders have a story to tell about their childhood and the life they led in the days gone by. However, not every elder is willing to share any of those childhood or life memories. The problem with not sharing them is the fact that they can be lost to time. Every memory has a lesson for someone to learn from. The 605 Unity Team is looking for those elders who are willing to share a few of those great memories with others during the 605 Unity JAM with is set for Sunday, June 11 at the Wagner Lake park.
Elders willing to share are asked to contact Dana Sanderson at 605-491-0804 as soon as possible. The Unity Team would like to see several elders from the community get together and share some of their great stories from the past and share with others who can do the same. Others who want to listen will be invited to take the opportunity to learn from what has been shared. Those who are sharing will take turns sharing stories from the “good old days”. This opportunity will be called a “Talking Circle”. The Unity Team is hoping to hear cultural background stories and other great memories as well. We think this activity is a great opportunity for all who share and those who come to listen.
Are you an elder who is willing to share? If the idea sounds great to you please call today. The plan for this activity is being added to our event schedule over the next few days so time is important. Please call today to let us know you will participate.
