WHERE WERE YOU ON SUNDAY MORNING
MATTHEW 12:9-13 "And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue: And behold, there was a man which had his hand whithered. And they asked him, saying, is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath day? That they might accuse him. And he said unto them, what man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the Sabbath Day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? How much more than is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the Sabbath Days. Then saith he to the man, stretch forth thine hand, and he stretched it forth; and it was returned whole, like as the other."(KJV)
At this time it was the law that no man should do any work on the Sabbath Day.
They tried to catch Jesus saying that it would be allowed to brake the law on the Sabbath Day. Breaking the law of no work on the Sabbath Day would be punishable by the law.
But Jesus handed it back at them and showed them that they would brake the law on the Sabbath Day to revive their sheep out of a pit.
So after Jesus put them down, he then proceeded to heal the man's hand.
That was an Old Testament Law. It was carried up until around 1950 or so, when the Law was changed. It was in place so people could go to church, rest, and have a day with the family. But all that was changed when the blue law was passed.
Now for the sake of greed, many businesses are open for business seven days a week which then keeps the employees at work when they could be in church, resting at home, and with the family for a family day.
Jesus was only saying that in an emergency a person could do work on the Sabbath Day
He did not open the door to Sabbath Day employment because He still wanted them attending church services on that day.
HEBREWS 10: 25 "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another, and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."(KJV)
We still need to keep that day open for the worship of our Lord, before we do anything else.
Where were you on Sunday morning? What might you be doing?
