WHERE NO WOOD IS

Submitted By Dr. James Schirtzinger, D.d. Pastor/founder Of The Grace Baptist Church, Lake Andes Since 1988

PROVERBS 26:21 " Where no wood is, there the fire goes out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceases."(KJV)

We are just going to look at the first part of this verse and compare it to the church.

The church is built on Jesus Christ and His teachings, His examples, His life, His death, His resurrection, His forgiveness, His bodily return for His believers. All this is compared to wood of a fire. If there are any of these mentioned things about Jesus are missing--the fire-or the church will die out.

Those who are faithful in the church we sometimes say they are " on fire for the Lord". This is because they demonstrate in their life that they believe and follow the Lord's teachings that are all found in the Bible, which must be taught in the church.

Without the true Bible being taught then the fire (faithfulness) of the members goes dim, and the fire in their life eventually goes out: and consequently the church dies as well.

We see today in so many "churches" are just "smoldering". Just enough teaching to keep people coming but no fire from their pulpits.

Many churches today were not founded on Jesus Christ, but along the way were founded by someone that disagreed with the true Word of God, and consequently their congregations are more interested in contemporary music and programs than in preaching---so this is what they get. The fire of their pulpits is gone. Without the fire from the pulpit the congregation is subject to being cold--the fire goes out and it shows in the lives of those who attended those churches.

We cannot allow our churches to fall into a smoldering state of spiritual fire from the pulpit to the lives of our congregations, with fire in our pulpits our fire will not go dim. As long as we all are faithful and live our lives outside the church building as we have been taught to live for the glory of God.

So think about what1CORINTHIANS 15:58 says, "Therefore my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."(KJV)

Is your church on fire for the Lord or is it just smoldering?
