WHAT IS THAT TO THEE?
Just Thought I'd Ask
JOHN 21:18-22 This is Jesus speaking to Peter saying, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdest thyself, and walkest whither thou wouldst, but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldst not.
This spake he signifying by what death he should glorify God.( Jesus was saying- you will be crucified and later Peter was crucified) And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, follow me.(KJV) (parenthesis mine) Then Peter ( now knowing that he would eventually be crucified) turning about, see-th the disciple whom Jesus loved (following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, which is he that betrayeth thee? Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? Follow thou me"(KJV)
What we see here is Jesus telling Peter what was to come. Peter was to give his life and be crucified for his faith, believing and teaching about Jesus Christ.
Now Peter did not argue about what was to eventually be his final act of faith in Jesus. He accepted that this is what would be forth-coming but Peter is now thinking to himself if this is what will be required of me, he turns and sees the disciple Jesus loveth, and then says to Jesus, what shall this man do? Jesus comes back at Peter and says, What is that to thee?"
This scripture is telling us that what ever the Lord has set before us to do for Him we should do it. It should not matter to us what some one else is to do for the Lord. That is between that person and the Lord.
God will bless us for doing what He wants us to do, which may probably be something totally different from some one else. We should not be concerned about what others are doing for the Lord, but we should be constantly concerned about what He wants us to do and do it and be blessed.
Don't worry about what others do or don't do for the Lord, it is up to us to do as He said, "follow thou me."
Are you sitting around watching others or are you doing something for the Lord?
