WHAT IS HE WANTING YOU TO DO?

LUKE 23:34 "Then said Jesus, Father forgive them; for they know not what they do, and they parted his raiment, and cast lots."(KJV

As we read the scripture of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ we find many things about God.

First we know of God the Father's love for His creation and His mercy towards them, by giving His only begotten Son to die for them.

We find in God's Word in the Old Testament that it was His plan to give man another chance to love, honor and obey Him.

The entire life of Jesus before He began His earthly ministry was foretold in the Old Testament right down to His birth of a virgin, His birth in Bethlehem, His youth in Nazareth, and all about His ministry, before He was wrongfully accused and sent to the cross.

We find in God's Word that those who followed Jesus for a while turned against Him.

Jesus knew what He was to do and how painful it would be for Him long before it came to pass. His death on the cross was foretold in the Old Testament.

So as we read LUKE 23:43 it was quoting what Jesus prayed while nailed on the cross in great agony. He looked down on those who were there mocking Him, cursing Him and blaspheming Him, and He asked His Father to forgive them, for they know not what they do.

In all the terribleness of the crucifixion the people thought they were doing a good thing by crucifying Jesus, actually were fulfilling Old Testament prophecy without knowing it. They were doing exactly what they were expected to do because God's Word said it would happen, just the way it did happen.

Everything about His crucifixion, His death and His resurrection were foretold just as they did happen.

Jesus had compassion on those who were there because they did not know that they were doing just as God's Word predicted they would do. So Jesus while hanging, nailed to the cross, looked down with favor and compassion on those unknowing souls, and prayed for their forgiveness.

Just think that sometimes something in our life may be happening because God is trying our willingness to do His will. We may not know it at the time, but He sees and He is willing to bless us for doing it.

We may not know what it is that He is wanting us to do, but He is willing to bless us for doing it.

Try to do what He wants and don't miss out on His blessings.
