This Week in Rotary News
President Jerry Weber rang the bell for the last time in his term of office from July 2018 to July 2019. His last ring was very even tempered, and we congratulate him on finally reaching the right decibels.
Guests for the day were Courtney Krsnak accompanied by her father, Rotarian Craig Krsnak and Callie Frei, daughter of Rotarians Patty and Bill Frei. Callie was supposed to be the program for the day for her father Bill; but technical difficulties with our new TV prevented that from happening. Callie was assured that the Rotarians would like her to come back when we get our system figured out. Laura Wright was also a guest, but this will be her last time as a guest.
Pastor Bill Hearmann gave the blessing giving thanks for food, fellowship, and guidance in serving our community.
Rotarian Ken Cotton presided over the induction of a new Rotarian to the Wagner Club. Laura Wright. He administered the Rotary Charge to a New Member stressing several points of membership which can best be summed up in two phrases that every Rotarian knows and adheres to: He Profits Most Who Serves Best and Service Above Self. Rotary membership has been described as the “rent we pay for the space we occupy.”
Callie Frei pulled the lucky ticket out of the pot which happened to be Jeff Doom's ticket. Everyone held their breath, but Jeff picked a Jack of Diamonds. The pot continues to grow. It is now up to$714 with $19 collected for the day.
Sec/Treas Patty Frei reported that the attendance race has now been closed. The Henke Team had two misses for the day and the Frei Team had 3 misses. The totals are the deciding factor for this quarter. Henkes had a total of 15 misses and the Freis had a total of 28 misses. There is no possible way the amount of absences can be made up at this point. Therefore, the Henke team will enjoy steaks at the expense of the Frei team members.
President Jerry thanked everyone who had helped him in the past year with his President position. Bill Frei will be the new President beginning next week at our meeting on July 3. Members were advised that the meeting will be held at Wagner Lake at our Rotary Shelter at Noon. A picnic meeting has been a long-established tradition for the beginning of the year and the club decided this was the time to resurrect that tradition.
The meeting was adjourned in our usual fashion. The room is darkened, and our American Flag is spotlighted as we sing America. God Bless America!
Sergeant at Arms Craig Krsnak was present for his last chance to levy fines in our calendar year. He didn’t disappoint.
