This Week in Rotary News
After a delicious lunch of BBQ ribs, hashed brown casserole, macaroni salad, roles, ice cream and pie, the January 30, 2019 Rotary meeting was called to order with the ringing of the bell by President Jerry Weber.
Pastor Laurie led in prayer.
Welcome was extended to our guest: Betsy Wiltz.
There were 19 Rotarians present with one guest joining us.
President Weber shared a letter of resignation from the Rotary club from Pat Breen.
Other announcements: Rachel W. says there is more help needed for the upcoming Chips Program. See her for more information.
There was no Membership moment today.
Rotarian Laurie K. then led the group in singing “In the Good Old Summertime.” They sang with a warm smile of sunshine on their faces – well done!
Ticket #24 was drawn for the Queen of Hearts, which was held by Patty F. However, she drew the King of Hearts (so close) so no luck! Sect./Treas. Report by Patty F. Queen of hearts collected $19 making the pot a total of $332.
The membership attendance race is as follows: Henke team had three misses today making their total misses nine. Frei team had one miss today making their total misses five.
Future programs: Feb. 6 Becky B., Feb. 13 Brenda J., Feb. 20 Scott M., Feb. 27 Bryan S., Mar. 3 Kelsey D.
Dave Isebrands was the program chair for today as well as the program! He shared an informational video with the club regarding dental implants.
Dental implants started over 30-35 years ago in Switzerland. They are becoming extremely popular. Dave does implant work after the post is in place by an oral surgeon. An opening is created in the jaw bone then post in place with a healing cover.
Then after healing (2-3 months) a titanium implant is put in. After 2-4 months healing to bond, a custom restoration is fitted securely in place.
Replacement options are as follows:
1. Partial denture – single tooth
2. Sin bonded bridge
3. Fixed bridge – cemented in place to neighboring teeth.
4. Dental implant (most secure option) inserted into bone – then abutment then crown. Functions like a natural tooth.
Medicare does NOT currently cover implants – it is not “health” related. Hopefully in the future, as implants become more and more popular, the cost will go down.
President Jerry thanked Dave for the program then had all Rotarians stand and closed in our usual fashion by singing “My Country ‘Tis of Thee.”
We were then adjourned.
