WE SHOULD BE GRATEFUL
to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.
18) And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord: 19) Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life: and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die.
20) Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one( still not wanting to co-operate) Oh let me escape thither( is it not a little one) and my soul shall live.
21) And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city for the which thou hast spoken.
22) Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do anything till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar. (lituraly insignificant) 23) The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered Zaor.
24) Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven.
25) And He overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
26) But his wife looked back ( she was told to not look back) from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.'(KJV) LUKE 17:32 ' Remember Lot's wife.'(KJV) In these scriptures we can see that the Lord would not punish Sodom and Gomorrah as long as Lot--the just man and his family were there. Once they were removeddown came the brimstone and the fire.
Lot's wife looked back at what she was leaving behind--and turned into a pillar of salt.
This is telling us that looking back at what our life was like before the Lord saw to it that we were pulled out of that lifestyle and saved us and that we should not look back to what things were like before our salvation. Nothing about our pre-salvation life is worth looking back too.
Lot was saved from the burning of Sodom and Gomorrah and we at out salvation were saved from the burning of hell.
We should be grateful for the wonderful God we serve. For His forgiveness and His continuous protection.
