WBH GYMNASTS PLACE 3RD AT STANLEY COUNTY GYMNASTICS INVITE
Wagner/Bon Homme Gymnasts competed at the Stanley County Gymnastics Invite January 8 to bring home third place.
Today was a day the girls got to show off some new skills and all the work they have been putting into their practices since prior to Christmas break! These girls improved their team score by just over 8 points! I can’t wait to see how much they continue to improve this last month!
Vault Results:
Emersyn Tucker scored an 8.10, Jasmine Gilbert scored a 7.90, Jenna Duffek scored an 8.90 and placed 2nd, Alcista Dion scored an 8.80 and placed 4th, and Alexys Rueb scored a 9.3 and won the event. Jenna Duffek, Alcista Dion both qualified for vault! Alexys has one more to go! We have quite a few girls working new skills on the vault. With continued confidence in their ability to perform these new skills well and with continued efforts to refine the skills they have been competing we should continue to see their scores improve.
Floor Results:
Jazmine Gilbert scored a7.95, Mia Dion scored a 7.05, Emersyn Tucker scored a 7.70, Jenna Duffek scored an 8.00 th, Alcista Dion scored an 8.05, and Alexys Reub scored a 9.5 and won the floor exercise. The girls continue to improve their connections, tumbling and confidence in their dancing on this event. We will continue to perfect the little details of their routines on this event as well.
Beam Results:
Emersyn Tucker scored a 7.70, Mia Dion 6.6, Jasmine Gilbert scored a 7.10, Jenna Duffek scored a 7.70, Alcista Dion scored and 8.0, and Alexys Reub scored a 9.05 and placed 3rd. We do not have anyone qualified on to compete this event quite yet. We have just got to stay on the beam. Once we can stay on the beam, their beam scores should improve exponentially which will raise our team score as well. Improving this event team score gets us closer to making it to state as a team and standing on the podium too.
Bars Results:
Emersyn Tucker scored a 5.25, Jasmine Gilbert scored a 7.4, Jenna Duffek scored a 7.6, Alcista Dion scored an 8.2, and Alexys Rueb scored an 8.2. Alexys and Alcista both earned their first score of 8.0 or above, that is needed for them to earn their spot to compete at the state meet on this event. Continued efforts here too, to clean up, connect, and be consistent in the how they compete these routines will push them to the score needed to be competitive on this event. We need to improve by 3 points on this event alone for the girls to be competitive with the top bar girls on this event.
All-Around Scores:
Emersyn Tucker scored a 28.75, Jasmine Gilbert scored a 30.35, Jenna Duffek scored a 32.20 and placed 12th, Alcista Dion scored a 33.05 and placed 8th, and Alexys Reub scored a 36.05 and won the all-around competition.
TEAM SCORES:
Wagner Bon Homme gymnasts scored a 132.45! Our goal all season has been to earn a score of 132 or above. For our team to make it to the state event we have got to earn a score of 132-136. Competition continues to get more and more difficult. With only a month left to practice and refine our routines the time spent at practice has got to be used a bit more efficiently. These girls can repeat the state showing and standing on the podium, if they can become confident in their ability to do so. Practicing with precision is one way to reach their goal and in becoming more confident in what they do.
