WAGNER/LAKE ANDES EMTS CHOSEN AS MODERN WOODMAN 2023 HOMETOWN HEROES

By

Modern Woodman Chapter 17406 has chosen the Wagner/ Lake Andes ambulance staff to be honored as their 2023 Hometown Heroes: on September 4th before the parade the ambulance staff was treated to coffee and homemade kolaches and muffins. Modern Woodman activities director Marcella Strand presented the crew with a $100 grant to be given to the charity of their choice. The Wagner/Lake Andes ambulance district was formed in 2000 and serves 7 communities in southern Charles Mix County. The district is overseen by a 9 member Board of Directors.

There are two ambulance crews, one in Wagner and one in Lake Andes, that are staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. This comes to 35,000 hours a year. There is a staff of 9 EMTs and 8 are EVOC drivers. They average 950 calls per year with a fleet of 4 type III ambulances. Their coverage area is 550 square miles.

Modern Woodman members would like to thank the local EMTs for their dedication to this important career in our community.

They are most deserving of the title 'Hometown Heroes.'
