WAGNER WRESTLING TEAM BRING HOME 4TH PLACE
On Thursday, February 21st the Red Raider wrestling team departed for the State Wrestling Tournament in Rapid City. The Raiders competed both Friday, February 22nd and Saturday, February 23rd.
The Raiders had a strong showing and finished in 4th place as a team with 86 points. Redfield Area finished in 3rd place with 104 points, Winner Area in 2nd place with 140.5 points and Canton taking home the team title with 200 points.
Wagner had seven wrestlers competing at the state tourney with four of those wrestlers bringing home hardware. At 106 pounds Jagger Tyler went 1 – 2 and was one match short from placing. Jagger finished the season with a 28 – 15 record. At 113 pounds Riley Roberts went 0 – 2 and was unable to place. Riley finished the season with a 24 – 21 record. At 120 pounds Lance Soukup went 4 – 1 and finished in 3rd place. Lance finished the season with a 40 – 10 record. At 126 pounds Bradyn Lhotak went 4 – 1 and finished in 3rd place. Bradyn finished the season with a 34 – 16 record. At 152 pounds Preston Nedved went 1 – 2 and was one match short from placing. Preston finished the season with a 28 – 22 record. At 220 pounds KJ St. Pierre went 4 – 0 and finished in 1st place. KJ finished the season with a 35 – 5 record. At 285 pounds Dawson Lensing went 3 – 1 and finished in 2nd place. Dawson finished his senior campaign with a 36 – 9 record.
The Raiders will be graduating one senior, Dawson Lensing.
The coaching staff was very pleased with how the Raiders finished the season. The Raiders wrestled with a lot of heart and determination throughout the tournament and we were very pleased with their effort.
