WAGNER TRACK RESULTS

By
Coach Matt Slaba

On Thursday, April 27, the Wagner track and field team participated in the First Dakota Relays in Yankton. This was a bit of a different meet for us as there were a vast array of schools who we don’t typically compete against. You had AA schools Brookings and Huron along with the hosts from Yankton. A schools from Sioux Falls Christian, Vermillion, Dakota Valley, amongst others. And B schools from Deubrook and Gayeville-Volin. Team scores were not kept at this meet.

For Wagner Emma Yost would place 2nd in the shot with a throw of 37’ 7”. She would take

4th place in the discus with a toss of 115’ 0”.

Ashlyn Koupal tied for 3rd place in the high jump with a leap of 5’1”.

Shalayne Nagel was the only other top eight placer for the girls as she came in 5th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.91.

For the boys Karstyn Lhotak would earn 8th place in the pole vault as he cleared 10’ 6”.

Jhett Breen ran a time of

43.19 in the 300 hurdles which was good for 3rd place.

While there weren’t many placers for Wagner, there were a number of personal bests on the year which is always good to see.

On Saturday, April 29, Wagner traveled to Lake Andes to compete in the AC/DC invitational. Wagner’s girls would wind up with a 3rd place finish as a team while the boys would end up fifth.

Emma Yost would win both throwing events. She won the shot put with a throw of 38’ 11” and the discus with a toss of
